An expression of the inner creative workings of a young artistic mind. "Yes, it's a blog!"

My Writing Resolution

on December 31, 2011

So it’s almost New Years down here on my side of the world and let me just say that I am so sick of all this holiday cheer. No, I am not one of those holiday kill joys who suck out the fun in everything. On the contrary, I am usually one of those merry and perky people who gets on your nerves sometimes. Unfortunately, recent events have made me bitter over the holidays. Add to that my arbitrary view on time and you got yourself one cynical bastard. I’ll save that story another time, though, cause trust me it’s long and I am still a little bit raw over it. Anyways, what I came here to write about is my plans for the new year; more importantly my blogging plans for the new year. So yes, this post will be mostly about me and my writing. Sorry friends but my more artistic works will have to wait.

Now, down to business, I’ve heard about this thing called Project 365 where we blog about something for everyday of the year (actually, it should be Project 366 considering that this year is a leap year but hey, I get the point). We can post pieces of artwork, photographs, designs, you name it, then blog about it. At first, I thought it was too daunting. I mean to take the time each and every single day to write about something you did or experienced is down right tedious. But then it began to sound intriguing to me. To document every moment in your life so that one day you can reflect on it all and say, “this is how I lived” would be neat. That is why, I am considering this challenge as one of my resolutions this new year. To be able to write everyday then reflect on it at the end of the year.

So this is how it is going down, for my personal Project 365 I will blog every single day for the whole year and will select one object (it can be something concrete or abstract) to write something artistic about. In the instance that I cannot blog for that day, I must write an additional post the following day. In essence, it will be like my own artistic journal where I can write short stories, poems, and essays about seemingly random things in my life. Then, when the year ends, I will reflect on all these writings to see how much I have grown as a writer. Though, it may be bothersome, I will commit myself whole heartily to this project.

That’s it, my little writing resolution this 2012. Hopefully I’ll get this ball rolling and accomplish my little venture. With only a few hours to go till the end of this year, I can’t help but feel excited with my new undertaking. Wish me luck and hope for my sake that I do achieve my little project. Happy holidays!

  2. Excellent post! I think you’ve encapsulated the mission of this blog and our challenge.

    • Thank you! Lately it has been really tough on me to write everyday considering I am so busy from morning til evening and get home pretty late. This has made me produce outputs that do not satisfy my expectations. Though, I am still committed to my cause no matter what and will hopefully create better posts than the ones I already have.
